Massachusetts Requires Certification from Expert Network Firms

The Massachusetts Securities Division has adopted a new regulation making it unlawful for an adviser to use an expert network firm unless it obtains a written certification concerning confidential information.  The certification must describe all confidentiality restrictions to which the consultant is subject and an affirmation that the consultant will not provide confidential information.

OUR TAKE: This type of certification is probably a good practice whether or not a firm is registered in Massachusetts.
